Tyrshi Falls is often called the "Elephant Falls of the Jaintia Hills" due to its multi-tiered structure, but it offers a much more serene and personal experience. Located very close to Jowai, it is a hidden gem that many highway travelers miss.

One of the defining features of Tyrshi Falls is the beautiful arch bridge that provides the best viewing platform. Reaching the bridge involves a pleasant walk through green paddy fields, which itself is a refreshing experience. Standing on the bridge, you get a front-row view of the water cascading down the dark rocks.

A Step Away from the Highway

Despite being just off the busy Shillong-Jowai highway, the falls feel secluded. The noise of traffic is replaced by the roar of the water and the sounds of the field. It is the perfect quick stop to refresh yourself during a long journey.

Located just 8 km from Jowai on the NH-6. Look for the arch bridge visible from the vicinity or the signboard. A short drive/walk from the highway takes you to the falls.
